Poland. Collar badge detail on the field uniform of Major General Stanislaw Sosabowski, commander of the (Polish) 1st Independent Parachute Brigade during Operation Market Garden and the battle to capture the bridge at Arnhem.

A handful of photos from the Warsaw Rising Museum / Muzeum Powstania Warszawskiego ( @warsawrisingmuseum ), which is dedicated to the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. The exhibition depicts fighting and everyday life during the uprising which eventually led to the total destruction of the city.

Communist North Vietnam. This low-tech mask was used by NVA troops to provide a level of protection against chemical agents during the Vietnam War. I am not sure how effective it would have been and looks handmade. It is one of the exhibits that I viewed in a small North Vietnamese Army display that is part of the temporary “Overkill” exhibition at the German Military History Museum / Militärhistorisches Museum der Bundeswehr (@mhmdresden) in Dresden.

Germany. Items related to the Felix Dzerzhinsky Guards Regiment (Wachregiment "Feliks E. Dzierzynski") at the Stasi Museum @stasimuseum in Berlin.

Russian Protei-5 (Протей-5) underwater propulsion vehicle used by Russian Special Forces Spetsnaz combat swimmer teams of the GRU. Designed to allow the divers to reach their targets quickly, it is powered by six non-sealed lead-acid batteries, can reach a speed of 3.5 knots (6.5km per hour) and has a range of 24km.

Ukraine. Patch of “Evacuation 200” a Ukrainian organisation engaged in recovering and transporting “Cargo 200” which is the designation of the bodies of the dead. The organisation removes both civilian and military bodies from both sides of the war in Ukraine.

Rhodesian LRDG group and associated paperwork from my collection. These medals and documents were awarded to E.J.C. (Eddie) Belstead who served in R.2 Patrol, A (Rhodesia) Squadron, Long Range Desert Group. As can be seen in his portrait, Eddie is wearing his LRDG beret and SAS styled wings on chest. He is also shown in other photographs in Jonathan Pittaway and Craig Fourie's book "LRDG Rhodesia" and Jonathan Pittaway's book "Long Range Desert Group Rhodesia: The Men Speak". A quick look at the Vojenské Starožitnosti / Military Antiques shop in Prague.

Found this WW2 period 2nd Czechoslovak Independent Paratrooper Brigade badge amongst other insignia in a shop today. This was a unit formed and trained in the USSR during the war. The insignia is one of my “holy grail” wanted items… but it is an incredibly rare badge that has been faked and this one is different (albeit better quality and detail) from other variations that I have seen. They were hand made, so variations are expected, but I need to do more research before making a purchasing decision.

Czech Republic. Uniform detail showing the parachutist, combat swimmer and Czech Military Police Special Operations Group (SOG) insignia on the uniform of Warrant Officer Jiří "Regi" Schams on display at the Czech Military History Museum / Army Museum Žižkov in Prague.

Soviet tank crewman and Hungarian Border Guard uniforms on display at the 25TH OCTOBER 1956 MEMORIAL by the Parliament Building at Budapest. Had to discretely snap this pic as photography is not allowed.
